Andrzej Maruszewski of Calgary, Alberta is our rainbow trout winner for 2010. Andrzej’s rainbow was caught at Glenmore Reservoir and weighed in at 12 lbs 2 ozs. Andrzej’s fish measured 29-inches long. Andrzej wins $300 for his trout and he becomes our Rainbow Trout Champion for 2010. Clayton Wierenga of Neerlandia, Alberta is our northern pike and overall champion for 2010.
Clayton’s pike measured in at 48.5 inches, 6.5% longer than the provincial record for pike. Clayton’s fish was caught in the Athabasca River near Fort Chipewyan and weighed in at 27.2 lbs. Clayton wins a fly-in fishing trip courtesy of Mikisew Sport Fishing!
Russel Solon of Medicine Hat, Alberta is our 2010 Alberta Walleye Champion. Russel’s walleye was caught in the South Saskatchewan River near Medicine Hat and measured in at 32 inches, weighing 12.2 lbs. Russel wins $300 and bragging rights for the 2011 season.

Cary Hackler of Calgary, Alberta is our rainbow trout winner for 2009. Cary’s rainbow was caught at Phyllis Lake and weighed in at 10 lbs 11.25 ozs. Cary’s fish measured 28-inches long and had a 16-inch girth. Cary becomes our Rainbow Trout Champion for 2009. Dena Squarebriggs of Banff, Alberta is our northern pike and overall champion for 2009. Dena’s 49.5-inch northern pike was almost a full 9% longer than the provincial record for pike. Dena’s fish was caught at Lake Newell and weighed in at 31 lbs 15 oz. with a 22-inch girth. James Peterson of Chinook, Alberta is our 2009 Alberta Walleye Champion. James’ walleye was caught in the Red Deer River and measured in at 32 1/2 inches in length and weighed 8 lbs 2 oz. with a 15.5” girth. Way to go James!

Jenifer Stevenson of Evansburg, Alberta is our rainbow trout winner for 2008. Jenifer’s rainbow was caught in Paddle River Dam Pond and weighed in at 4.5 pounds. Jenifer’s fish measured 24-inches and had a 14-inch girth. Rob Butz of Calgary, Alberta is our northern pike and overall champion for 2008. Rob’s 44.5-inch northern pike was just 2.3% shorter than the current Alberta record for northern pike. Rob’s fish was caught at Clear Lake and weighed in at 28 lbs 13 oz. with a 21-inch girth. Jerry Hasil of Lethbridge, Alberta is our 2008 Alberta Walleye Champion. Jerry’s walleye was caught in the Oldman River and measured in at 32 1/2 inches in length. Jerry’s walleye weighed 15 lbs 0 oz. and was just 8 oz. less than the provincial record.

Richard Olson of Champion, Alberta is our rainbow trout winner for 2007. Richard’s’ rainbow was caught in the McVinnie Reservoir and weighed in at 12 pounds. Richard’s fish measured 30 inches and had a 17 1/8 inch girth. Bill Gauthier of Banff, Alberta is our northern pike and overall champion for 2007. Bill’s 49-inch northern pike was 7.6% longer than the current Alberta record for northern pike. Bill’s fish was caught at Newell Lake and weighed in at 30 lbs 8 ozs with a 22 1/4 inch girth. Bill also released this tremendous fish back to its waters. Russ Erickson of Trochu, Alberta is our 2007 Walleye Champion. Russ’ walleye was caught (and released) in the Red Deer River and measured in at 34 3/4 inches in length. Russ’ walleye weighed 12 lbs 8 oz. and had a 18 3/4 inch girth. An awesome walleye!

Denis Simard of Calgary, Alberta is our rainbow trout champion for 2006. Denis’ rainbow was caught at Twin Lakes near Rocky Mountain House and weighed in at 11 pounds. Denis’ fish stretched the tape to a full 32 inches, equalling the Alberta record for rainbow trout length. Gerald Tkachuk of Hinton, Alberta is our northern pike and overall champion for 2006. Gerald’s 49.5 inch northern pike was 8.8% longer than the current Alberta record for northern pike making him our clear-cut champion. Gerald’s pike was caught while ice-fishing at Fickle Lake and weighed in at 33 lbs 2 ozs with a 24 3/8 inch girth. John Pinch of Stavely, Alberta is our 2006 Walleye Champion. John’s walleye was caught in Travers Reservoir and measured 34.5 inches in length. John’s walleye weighed in at 16 lbs 2 oz. and had a 22 inch girth.
John becomes our 2006 Alberta walleye champion.

Ten year old Nicole Wilson of Grande Prairie, Alberta is our Rainbow Trout Champion for 2005. Nicole’s rainbow was caught out of Swan Lake near Grande Prairie and weighed in at 10 pounds. Her fish also had a 15” girth and stretched the tape to 27.25”. Michelle Stuart of Lundbreck, Alberta is our “2005 Alberta Angler of the Year.” Michelle caught her pike in Keho Lake and the fish weighed in at a whopping 34lbs. 15.2 oz.
Michelle’s fish scored 105% to the provincial record in length.
Murray Schaurer of Medicine Hat, Alberta is our 2005 Walleye Champion. Murray’s walleye was caught in the South Saskatchewan River near Medicine Hat and measured 33” in length. Murray’s walleye weighed in at 13lbs. 8 oz. and had an 19.5” girth.

Peter Lui of Calgary, Alberta is our Rainbow Trout Champion for 2004. Peter’s rainbow was caught out of Phyllis Lake near Caroline and weighed in at 9.5 pounds. This fish scored 92% in length to the provincial record, stretching the tape to 29.5”. Ken Noel of Calgary, Alberta is our “Alberta Angler of the Year” Ken’s pike came from Potts Lake on the Canadian Shield of northern Alberta and was caught on an 8-weight fly rod in June.
Ken’s fish scored 103% to the provincial record in length.
Andrzej Karpis of Calgary, Alberta is our 2004 Walleye Champion. Andrzej’s walleye was caught in the Red Deer River near Drumheller and measured 33” in length, which is 93% to the provincial record. This walleye weighed in at 11.5 pounds and had an 18.5” girth.

Travis Berends of Calgary caught this fabulous 10-pound (unofficial), 29-5/8” rainbow and becomes our 2003 Rainbow Champion. Travis caught his trout out of Beaver Lake near Sundre. Terry Foster of Strathmore is our “Alberta Angler of the Year” for his 49” pike. Terry’s pike came from Carolside Reservoir near Hanna, weighed in at 30-pounds and scored 107.6% to the provincial record in length. Eight year old Victor Pollock of Bow Island is our 2003 Walleye Champion for this 32.5-inch, 9.94-pound walleye caught in the South Saskatchewan River.

Mike Peterson of Huxley caught this 28” rainbow and becomes our 2002 Rainbow Champion. Mike’s rainbow was caught at Cow Lake and weighed in at 10.3-pounds (unofficial) and had a 17 1/2” girth. Elaine Bates of Crossfield is our “Alberta Angler of the Year” for her 48” pike. Elaine’s pike weighed in at 35-pounds (unofficial) and was caught at Leggo Lake. Duncan Baldie of Medicine Hat is our Walleye Champion for 2002 for his 34” walleye caught out of the South Saskatchewan River. Duncan’s fish weighed in at 14.1-pounds (unofficial) and had a 19 3/8” girth.

Victor Dyck of Brooks caught this 29 1/4” rainbow and becomes our Rainbow Champion. Victor is a two-time champion winning the walleye category in 1998. Normand Hamel of Lethbridge is our “Alberta Angler of the Year” for this 48” Keho Lake pike that weighed in at 28-pounds (unofficial). Milton Metzger of Flatbush is our Walleye Champion for this 32” walleye caught out of the Pembina River. Milton’s fish weighed in at 9.61 lbs (unofficial) with a 17” girth.

David Fairless of St. Albert, Alberta is our 1999 Alberta Angler of the Year!

Curt Horning of Canmore entered this beautiful 28 1/2” (unofficial) rainbow trout taken from the Lower Kananaskis. The trout was estimated to be in the 7 to 8 pound range and fell just 2% short in length of the Alberta record for trout. Curt is our trout champion for 1999. David Fairless of St. Albert scored this fantastic pike out of Thurston Lake near High Level. The fish measured 50 3/4” (unofficial) and scored a full 12% longer than the provincial record. Dave is our Grand Prize Winner. D. Baldie of Medicine Hat pulled in this wopper 31 1/2” (unofficial) walleye from the South Saskatchewan River. The fish scored 3% longer than the provincial record and weighed an incredible 13 lbs. 2 ozs. Mr. Baldie is our 1999 walleye champion of the year.
